An ever-present for Marco Silva ’s side in the Premier League this season, the seriousness of the 29-year-old’s injury is still to be determined.

The defender, who has captained Everton in Phil Jagielka's absence through injury and suspension in recent weeks, will now will return to Finch Farm and be assessed with Blues supporters facing an anxious wait to see if Coleman will be fit for Sunday’s clash with West Ham United.

Silva has not had much luck with injuries during the opening weeks of his reign at Goodison Park with Coleman joining Jagielka, Andre Gomes, Idrissa Gana Gueye, James McCarthy, Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Theo Walcott on the sidelines.

Jonjoe Kenny started the Toffees’ Carabao Cup clash with Rotherham United and will be on standby to start against the Hammers should the Ireland captain not recover in time.
