VATICAN CITY, Feb 5 (KUNA) -- Pope Francis hosted on Monday Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan, in the first encounter at this level since 59 years ago, it was officially announced.
The Pope received the Turkish president at his office in a meeting that lasted for 50 minutes. He adorned Erdogan with a medal depicting "the angel of peace strangulating the demon of war."
Following the meeting, Erdogan and accompanying officials held talks with Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolini.
Later, Erdogan proceeded to the Italy to meet his Italian leaders. (end)
