YEREVAN. – Belgium will not open an embassy in Armenia in the near future, Belgian Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Arthur Regibeau told reporters on Thursday in Yerevan.

Replying to the question when it is possible to open embassy of Belgium in Armenia, Jean-Arthur Regibeau said: “We are frequently asked this question, including the Armenian authorities. We are discussing this issue, I cannot say more. As an ambassador, I can say that there is no obstacle to establishing an embassy in Armenia. We have great relationships that will grow stronger with the years. The second aspect is financial. You all know about the problems in the Eurozone. Belgium should also save due to the crisis. Last year, Belgium closed its embassies in 17 countries. I cannot say that we will be able to open embassy in Yerevan soon. But, we do not rule out it in the long run.”
