TUSCALOOSA HOSTING VETERANS REUNION EVENT

The fifth annual Alabama Veterans Reunion is coming up this weekend.
The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center is hosting the event Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m.
This year’s reunion is a picnic-style event instead of a formal dinner, which organizers say will create a more relaxed environment.
The annual reunion gives veterans a chance to get together and celebrate outside traditional holidays.
“This is an event where it’s not centered around veterans holidays,” said Director of Tourism and Development Jasmine Rainey. “Of course you have Memorial Day in May, you have Veterans Day in November, so it’s really nice to have something in the middle of the year where veterans can look forward to coming out, having a celebratory time and getting information for their families and for themselves.”
The free event features musical guests, children’s play areas and free food and drinks.
Several vendors on-site will be available to provide resource information to veterans and their families.
